Corktown Common Party - Canary District

Corktown Common Party

On Thursday, July 10, we partnered with Waterfront Toronto to celebrate the official opening of Corktown Common. The event was well-attended as over 500 of Toronto’s residents joined in the celebration. There was a free BBQ, cotton candy, snow cones, and the Canary District’s complementary organic KIJU juice and oranges were a big hit.

Party-attendees enjoyed Rickshaw rides  on the Canary Xpress from the park’s entrance at Bayview St. and Lower River St. into the heart of the Corktown Common. Electric Blonde played crowd favourites and many happy children danced along to the music.

Toronto Mayoral candidate John Tory and Ontario Minister Glen Murray MPP showed up for the party too. They talked to Dundee Kilmer President Jason Lester about the great plans we have in store for the Canary District.

Our second #kissthecanary contest was a hit. Many participants took their photos with the Canary for a chance to win 2 Bruno Mars tickets. Congratulations to our winner, Eva!  Our next contest will be coming up very shortly – keep following our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) to stay informed.

The burgers, Canary Xpress rides, candy bags, and the beautiful Corktown Common Park all made for an incredible evening out. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate! If you missed the great party, you can see more photos here, and we encourage you to come down for a visit to check out Toronto’s best park.
